Meet the Restructuring Team



Tinamarie Feil

President of Client Services and Co-Founder


Tinamarie Feil is co-founder and the President of Client Services of BMC Group. Ms. Feil has 25 years experience directing various aspects of corporate compliance, communications, insolvency case administration, as well as the due diligence process in major merger & acquisition transactions. She currently acts as Co-Chair of the American Bankruptcy Institute’s Business Reorganizations Committee and is the Task Force Leader of IWIRC’s delegation to the United Nations Committee on International Trade Law (Working Group V, Insolvency). Ms. Feil is a frequent author and speaker. Recent publications include “Quick, or Not So Quick, Sales Under Chapter 11” March, 2012 SPECIAL REPORT: Distressed M&A And Investing of Financier Worldwide, “What About the Cloud” in Euromoney: Global Insolvency and Restructuring Review 2011/12; "Concerns Surrounding the Transmission of Personally Identifiable Information" in Financier Worldwide's Global Reference Guide: Bankruptcy & Restructuring (May 2011); and "Claims Trading Promotes Ownership Concentration” ABI Journal (Co-Authored, April 2011). She is an active member of Turnaround Management Association, the American Bankruptcy Institute and the Association for Corporate Growth. In addition, Ms. Feil is committed to community service, mentoring, and physical and mental well-being. Her favorite organizations include Step Up Women's Network, Ronald McDonald House and Didi Hirsch Community Mental Health Center. Ms. Feil is based in New York.




Varouj Bakhshian

Director


Mr. Bakhshian joined BMC Group in 2002 with over 15 years of experience in bankruptcy cases as an attorney and as a consultant and paralegal representing debtors, creditors, committees, trustees and other interested parties in insolvency and restructuring matters. He brings a wide range of experience in bankruptcy administration as well as an in-depth understanding of the impact of insolvency on a broad range of business enterprises, including, transportation, insurance, finance, telecommunication, manufacturing, retail, healthcare, and energy.


Prior to joining BMC Group, Mr. Bakhshian practiced with the boutique bankruptcy law firm of Hagen & Hagen and the national firm of Epstein Becker & Green where he specialized in Chapter 11 reorganization. As counsel for numerous debtors, Mr. Bakhshian has handled all aspects of a bankruptcy case, from pre-petition planning through Plan confirmation and distribution. He also served as an extern to the Honorable Robin L. Riblet, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge for the Central District of California. As a senior consultant at a nationally recognized claims administration consulting firm, he led teams in numerous high-profile cases, including Pacific Gas & Electric, Washington Group International and At Home Corporation.


In his current position as Director at BMC Group, Mr. Bakhshian has led teams in middle market cases and some of the largest and most complex restructuring cases ever filed:

  • Conseco, Inc – an insurance and finance company with assets of $52 billion and the third largest bankruptcy case ever filed

  • Conseco Finance Corporation – a subprime lender and servicer of mortgage portfolios in excess of $25 million

  • Dana Corporation – an auto parts manufacturer with assets of $9 billion and 46,000 employees worldwide

  • ATA Airlines – the tenth largest passenger airline and the largest commercial charter airline in the United States with $700 million in assets and 8,000 employees

  • Sea Containers – a leading provider of cargo shipping containers, passenger and vehicle ferry services and hotel operations with over 10,000 employees

Mr. Bakhshian earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California at Los Angeles and his Juris Doctor from Loyola Law School. He is admitted to practice law in California State and Federal courts. He is a current or past member of the American Bar Institute, Turnaround Management Association, Association of Insolvency & Restructuring Advisors, Financial Lawyers Conference, Los Angeles Bankruptcy Forum, California Bar Association and Los Angeles Bar Association.




Myrtle (MJ) John

Director, Noticing


Ms. John has been with BMC Group for 11 years, and brings extensive experience working in the Debtor-side of restructuring. Her duties include managing the Noticing/Production department which handles all noticing requests in restructuring case, and also she also supports multiple facets of restructuring and class action cases. Prior to joining BMC Group, she worked at Pachulski Stang Ziehl Young Jones & Weintraub (PSZYJW) for 8 years as a Senior Paralegal and Paralegal Administrator in Restructuring Department of their Los Angeles and Delaware offices. At PSZYJW, Ms. John lent her skills as the lead paralegal on several cases of varying degrees of complexity, including, Sizzler Restaurants, TIE Communications and other Chapter 11 cases in the restaurant, telecommunications and insurance industries. Prior to her tenure at PSZYJW she was Senior Paralegal and Paralegal Administrator at the Los Angeles boutique bankruptcy law firm of Levine & Eisenberg for 13 years.


Ms. John holds an MPA, from California State University, Northridge. Ms. John comes to us from warmer climates, having migrated from the nation of Trinidad & Tobago to attend Rockhurst College, Kansas City, Missouri, where she began her undergraduate education in Political Science with the intention of going to work with the United Nations and eventually returning to her island home to become involve in politics. However the opportunity of employment with a law firm changed her career course.


At BMC Group Ms. John has been the project manager on several cases, including Fleming Companies, Inc., Dade Behring, HomeLife, Startec, Vartec and UHP HealthCare, Crusader Energy Group, TriDimension Energy, Regen Biologics, CLA Hold LLC - formerly ALC Holdings LLC. and has provided invaluable assistance on many others.




Terri Marshall

Director, Project Manager


Terri Marshall joined BMC Group in May 2002 after completing 24 years service in Corporate Accounting. Ms. Marshall brings extensive operational and managerial experience in business bankruptcy from the Debtor perspective, as she prepared former employees for continuing business in both a Chapter 11 reorganization and a Chapter 11 liquidation.


After joining BMC Group she has been very successful in managing all phases of the bankruptcy process including reclamation, executory contract review, schedule/SOFA preparation, monthly operating report preparation, preference actions, the proof of claim process, plan solicitation, and distribution. Projects managed by Ms. Marshall include: Payless Cashways, Inc., TWA, Inc., Farmland Industries, Inc., Techneglas, Inc., J.L. French Automotive Castings, Inc., Weld Wheel Industries, Inc., and Musicland Holdings, Inc.


Ms. Marshall obtained her Accounting degree from Central Missouri State University in 1980 and during her career was the functional project manager for several large systems implementations. Since joining BMC Group she has been extensively involved in process/project improvement groups. She is a member of IWIRC and the Turnaround Management Association.
